Europe City Break

Post by charlievwp »

Looking to go away for 3/4 days (alone) to a European city but cannot decide where!
Can anyone recommend one?

My criteria is:
 Not too long flight
 Not too cold!
 Bit of culture/history - the camera is coming too!

 And already done Barcelona, Paris, Brugge, Malaga, Gibralta

Any suggestions?!

Madrid. I went there a few years ago now, but it was well worth it; it's a really nice city.

For the culture well worth it. The Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofía National Museum and Art Centre which is well worth it for the Guernica. Toledo is a short train journey away. Loads of history too. There is also a theme park at the Casa de Campo, which is great fun.

Cool thanks, thats a good one - i'll look into that!

Just been looking at Zurich.
Found a hotel and flight for £200 total for 3 nights B+B in the centre.
Not sure Zurich has as many attractions as Madrid though.

Dublin is an interesting one as well. I'd love to go there in the future. Also, consider somewhere like Vienna, which is meant to be nice.

Yeah, I went to Dublin when I was a lot younger and it was fab, and it does mean I could take Polo too. Don't fancy braving the rest of the European roads!
I did look at Vienna but Zurich was marginally cheaper so swung it.

Just fancied a trip away for a few days on my own.
Got a couple of other holidays in mind later in the year with boyf but this one is just for me.
I'm into city breaks and the usual beach holidays whereas boyf likes beach hols and snowboarding so we both get to do our own thing I guess!
Might seem a bit sad going on my own but its great - get to do what you want, see what you want and eat where you want! :D
Barcelona was an excellent choice as a lone traveller before too.

Fair play to you for getting out there and experiencing the world on your own!!

A few friends from uni do things like this, and say you encounter some amazing experiences!
