Revs increase when you take your foot off the accelerator.

Post by W4510 »

I went to the local VW dealership and they fixed my clutch pedal putting in a new clutch switch or something. They also put in some brake fluid and road tested the car (on invoice).
When I left the garage I noticed that when I take my foot of the accelerator and put in the clutch pedal, the revs increase by about 500 and then drop back down to what they should be. It does not do this if i wait to change gear for about 3 seconds after I stop accelerating. It also doesnt do this when changing to 5th gear and the amount the revs goes up is very little when changing into 4th.
Does anyone know what this is, and should the garage have done something about it, or should I?

not sure what is causing it, but it doesn't sound normal, i would highly advise you take it back to VW and tell them and see what they advise, any repair should be free as it wasn't doing this prior to going in i presume?

Either way nothing to worry about, just a bit unusual
