They wont just crush your car, as you still own the thing till the insurance company have done all the paper work and payed out, then its there's unless you buy back.
The insurance company won't crush it either, it will get sold to a scrappy and parts sold therein.
As for taking 4 weeks, be prepared to wait longer! it had an accident and it got fixed pretty quick, although i had to wait around a tear for my compo claim to come through! You dont just get a cheque right away.
Also don't be daft and accept the first offer the gave you! do research on your car, the milage etc, the mechanics of it! the condition, and regardless what the said about the box it will come into the equastion! if you went to sell the car the box has been done and would not loose on that, where as if it didn't and the buyer was in the know they would knock money off.
End of it is, have pics of how the car was, the condition and the current market value! not what you think you would get! ie round websites, that aint on! and laughable for them! ie parkers guide etc, and various other guides, and phone round garages to see what trade price you would get etc. In ESSANCE DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!

just heard from the insurance today, there willing to pay me out 4500 for the polo. which i think is pritty good considering the millage and the age!
the only thing is, the excess was 400 and the outstanding finance was 1700 so that only leaves me with 2100
oh well, better than a kick in the nuts!! as for buying it back, shes gonna let me know with details!
