Mk4 Golf Engine trouble

Hi all,
Bought my girlfriend a mk4 golf 1.6 8v from someone I know. Great Car but one problem which I can't seem to rectify.

At idle the engine seems to shake every three seconds. An the idle can drift up to 1500rpm and then down to as low as 650rpm and then start hunting badly.

It doens't do it all the time but does it few times every day.

I have done the following so far.

Full service, new MAF, Cleaned the throttle body and change the HT leads.

Any else got any I ideas.

The throttle body may need alignment, or the temp sender may need replacement.
