would u pay so u never have gearbox problem again??

Post by bbspolo »

Hello people Simple question rearly would u pay (and how much) 2 have a relible gearbox?

Some of u may have seen that i put a post on the gearbox thread about a possible gearbox conversion!

If not this how it goes! Basicly im so fed up with having to pull my gearbox out 2 rebuild it every 6-12 months that ive finaly decided after 4 1/2 rebuilds 2 do somthing about it! :x

So ive emailed a guy called martin halland who owns and runs a company called reyland! now some of u im sure will allready know who he is but for those of u who dont! reyland is most know for tunning and custom work on cosworths but he also does a who rang of other cars! Now those of u who have seen is escort or any of the cars he has worked on will know that his work is a good as i comes!! :D

A few thing reyland has done include a conversion 2 fit skyline gearboxes into cosworth, rover 20vt (vw) conversions using rover gearboxes! and i think now he is moving into lotus ellises with 20v in them ! so u could say making gearboxs that dont bellong some were fit is his specitaly!

So ur proberly getting bored by now but all i need is a show of intrest by people in this type of conversion so that he will see it worth wild to look at our problem!

Cheers lads!! :D

Definately. I'd be happy to pay even up to £1000 to get a good strong gearbox.

Would it be modelled on the original box (i.e. same gear ratios?)

edit: You should post this on Club Polo too

most likly it wont be like the same box most proberly make a kit 2 let u fit a box out of another vw, like a golf box?
But then martin may deacide a non vw box might be the way 2 go!
However it wont involve uprating the original box as these just have 2 many probems. and a box out of another car with a conversion kit will hopfully work out cheeper than lots of fancy work 2 the gti box 2 make it stronger!
Any way martin knows whats best and how 2 do these things so if he excepts i will be leaving it in his very capible hands.

O if ur intrested
www.reyland.co.uk
Its quite a basic site but when ur there be sure 2 check out his latest escort cosworth build !
