Airbag light

Post by 1 GTI »

Anybody know where the airbag connectors are? I've been told they're under the drivers seat but I can't find any wires what so ever. The fault comes up on my VAG software as " drivers side igniter " but it hasn't been in a smash for it to be replaced. I've been told it's most prob the wires have just come a part a little bit hence why the light is on. Click them back together. Cheers people

IMHO...I wouldnt mess with anything airbag related!

If you accidentally trigger an airbag it could cost you a fortune to replace the steering wheel or dashboard module...Not to mention the fact that it could kill you if it deploys with you next to it!

Get VW to deal with it!

lol i love the way people think of airbags as being able 2 kill u ! LOL
Rearly they cant ive had 1 go of at point blank range before and the only damage irecived was rinning in my ears! lol (o this wasnt though messing with it my mate decided 2 crash while i was looking in the glovebox )lol

Dude i work for vw as a tec ur completly fine 2 disconect the airbag connectors and reconect them (it wont KILL U! lol) and u wont f**k anything up! But u will then need the light reseting as it wont reset its self!

Secondly just so people know a airbag uses very high volts 2 set it self off so the chances of u finding that high a voltage is very slim! How this came about the whole they can go off if u mess with them thing is when airbag first came out they worked completle different 2 the ones we have 2day! and used low volts (so a 9v batter could set them off! )

Hell i dont even disconect the battery when im changing a airbag and i dont think i have ever even seen any1 do it ither!

If ur around the surrey croydon arear dude drop me a pm and ill sort it for u on the house!

It wasnt an off the cuff remark mate..

I have seen someone very seriously injured by a faulty airbag system exploding in his face!

sorry but i have to agree with Tegwin - I've seen some very nasty burns from airbag deployments when people are too close - personally I wouldnt risk it.

Thanks for offer mate. Yea I have got VAG but I've reset the light 3 times now and as soon as I reset again it comes straight back on. As before it would stay off months. The VW mechanic who looks after my car said it's under the seat and it just needs to be clicked back into place and reset the light. But I can't find the cable
