Hi,
I would love to hear from anyone who has done this idea:
Replace back speakers with 17cm Subs, like Kenwoods? or, does anyone know what sort of size of sub can be fitted into the space in the rear sides, (my car is a 3 Dr), i will be using Genisis Audio-Phile Components in the fronts, Amped by Genisis Profile 2ch Amp
For the backs i will be amping with Genins Profile Sub-Amp, my local dealers have sugested Genisis 6 x 9 Subs, which in there Demo Mini, sound great..
I want great sound, but deffinatly can not live with a massive box in my boot, it is used daily and can not be altered...
would the 17cm Subs in the original spaces be any good? or if i can fit something like 10" subs in the spaces should i do this?
Any help would be great, thanks everybody
Steve

Well... low frequency is supposed to be reproduced by the element ment to reproduce this frequency. 17cm speaker really cant do it as it's not supposed to. It just doesnt have the conearea big enough. When we talk about bass, then 8" element is the first size to get close to do the job. Do not expect a low frequency from a speaker, that is not made for this! Yes, you can get mid-bass but not the bass...

Try the Focal 165K2Ps. They sound like a drum and have 3.2cm cone-travel and thats no exaggeration- i was told they were good but i had to find out for myself. 6x9s are too deep for the door and i think the Focals would be the best if you want bass from your door. The door will definately need padding out though as the door panel in the Polo is not up to standard. Good luck with it
