Banging Noise

I have noticed today after 400 miles that when I brake or slow down there is a banging/clattering noise from under the car, why?? I think its something to do with the wheels, brakes and it began all of sudden. I have normal 14" factory tyres and alloys on it. Completely perfect up till now, please help!!

I found out the problem!!!!! All the bolts on the front wheels were loose! So lose that with a few more turns with your hand it would have come off!! Can you believe VW?? It could have been disastrous!!

I was going to suggest this.
My factory fitted wheels were lose. It was quite worrying as I thought there was something very wrong with the car.

Still as long as everyone's ok it's probably a relief to have found out what is was.

Worth mentioning to the dealers though.
