polo9n mk6.5 front end swap

Post by chris 9n »

here is a step by step photos as i done the car

got the panels all brand new off a new car that fell off the back of a transporter and was never driven woo hoo

ready to start
Image

removed bumper ,lights, grill, and started taking off slam panel
Image

front all off now
Image

now i started fitting the new front so i could drive it down to the body shop for them to take it off again and paint it and re-fit it
Image

day one over got the two wings on and bonnet all going to plan bolt for bolt swap so far
Image

slam panel/front carrier and new radiator now all fitted
Image

time for a snag didn't all go to plan
the head lights would not fit because the inner wing was stopping them going in so i had to cut about 2"inches off the inner wing for them to go in so i had to take it all back off again and re-fit it

right so now got the lights in but the bumper would not line up took us nearly all day to get it right the 9n inner wing brackets were different so we had to bend them to shape
Image

done woooo hoooo now time to take it the body shop and for them to take it all off again lol
Image
Image
Image

now at body shop the ice house in stoke ready for painting
Image

little ding on my door got sorted
Image
bumper with center of it painted gloss black and blue motion bottom splitter fitted
Image
bonnet
Image

nearly done
Image

ready for a polish
Image

Image

no more side repeater the joy of the swap now smoother
Image

cars all done :-D went and got a new wind screen fitted old one got chipped and cracked   :p

So thats why you were selling the old bumper!

Have considered this many times as the new shape fronts look soooo much better than the old ones!

Fair play for doing it mate! How are you finding the coilovers?

Looking sweet mate! I like the 9n3 front end, but not the 9n3 tailgate...you've got the best of both worlds 8)

And yeah, the best colour as well...not that I'm partial or anything *cough* :D

Looks awesome. This was the first car that inspired me to modify a 9n.

Out of interest how much did it cost you in parts to do?

9n3 tailgate has a 'V' shape to the line of the window and the tailgate. The 9n is just straight.

Thats it though..
