In to the service tomorrow

Post by Clawz »

Well, my poor old polo is going in for its 30,000 mile service tomorrow... I really don't think it should've done soo many miles only being a year and a half old, but then again I do drive alot :P

Take a look at the list of things they've got to look at :P

1. Left hand door doesn't shut properly
2. sealant around left door all scewy
3. Wipers make loud noise at top and bottom of the window
4. Handbrake pulls up waaaaay too far
5. Noise from engine when clutch is out
6. Boot plastic moulding never fitted right
7. Serious wear on left hand wheels
8. Brakes juddering
9. Squeeky suspension
10. wipers don't get half the screen clean :P
11. Brakes lights occasionally remain on indefinately *unless I have a little fiddle by the brakes to turn them off*
12. Common Dash problems
13. Seatbelts no longer retract
14. Suspension makes an occasionall bang noise when going over speed bumps
15. Rattle noise under car
16. Exhaust is blowing a bit too much.... in that it's quite audible!
17. Loud squeal coming from the engine bay when starting the car from cold and driving away
etc...etc....

and that's just off the top of my head that they've got to look at :P

I'm hoping they're going to add the new brushes to the suspension mentioned in a previous post.

Gah... I'm beginning to think I got one of a bad batch :( What do I mean "beginning"? :P I *know* I got one of the bad batch...

10. wipers don't get half the screen clean
Have you tried the VW branded screenwash. I know it sounds like marketing speak, but it really did make a difference on mine -- halfords generic just smeered everywhere, but the vw stuff doesn't. But at £3.40 for a litre... Or do your jets both point to the passenger side and have up and down, but not side to side adjustment on them

Yeah, a fair number of your problems are "generic" (features!)

What is it about these cars that makes us love them so much when there's so much wrong with them?

On a more serious note - did your car came with an old-style rear wiper and a blue (rather than black) VW badge on the steering wheel? They're the bad batch - all the early ones... Guess which I've got. Athough people with much newer cars have been on here complaining about the same sort of stuff...

Deek.

I've got a 2004 model year and most of the problems I have caused myself! Taking panels off and stuff.

Although I need the rear suspension looked at, looking around other forums it seems a lot of VAG cars all have some kind of squeaks and rattles! Even the R32's

Why don’t we all strip our 9N's down, sound proof the whole car and tighten every screw and bolt! Joke....

Seriously though it's the engines that make the Polo a cracking little car. All the nice torque from the TDI engine yet cheap running costs and a group 6. I just think they used the wrong kind of plastics in VW's from 2001 onwards

Funnily enough, I did get the old style ones with the blue VW logo and the old wiper on the rear!
