Super Slam In ProgreSS

Post by stig247 »

Ive been running a set of FK highsports for a Year & a Half now,
but was not happy with my ride hight on both 16" & 17" -
so my options - get a diffrent set of coilovers or remove the helper springs.
removing the helpers seemed more realistic!
Heres what it looked like before fully down

Now with helpers removed (still can go lower)

BTW - the rears have not been touched yet because my coilover collars are seized, so ill be getting a new pair after the easter break & changing the rear tyres to 195/45 from 205/45

comments welcome!!!!!

Am surprised they would'nt go that low with the helpers in? I thought all the FK range went low without having to remove bits (I have silverline X ones and mine go as low as yours are now with the helpers in!) strange.

Anyhow, looks waaaay better 8)

Lovin the car mate and the colour codin, im on silverlines, 1.2 engined 9N and know the feeling of it not going low enough, its a right con telling you they'll go 100mm and then when you get them on they go about 60 absolute maximum! You'll struggle gettin the rear end much lower won't you are you just gonna remove the rear lockers? By the way hows the ride with the helpers removed, any difference at all and have you removed the ARB to get that low?

Thanks for comments guys!

V800DUB - TBH mate the rears can go down a hell of alot compared to the front, i used copper grease on my coilover collars but wen i got around to adjusting the collars there were stuck stiff (nearly cracked one bashing that much) so just gonna simply order some new ones - ill keep you posted on that.

the ride is not much different because the helpers are now removed id say its jus a lil noiser going over a pot hole or such.

ARB - believe it or not im still using the stock ARB, at first wen i gt it slammed i did get a klunking sound wen i locked the steering right, but i got the ARB moved back over from my local mechanic. no problems what so ever now.

i had a KW ARB on order for about a month from venom, they completly took the p*** so i just canceled that. I dont even need it

roll on summer, put my fully polished audi 17" monos back on with a better ride hight this time round

Get yourself a long bar attached to the c spanner and put the adjuster in a vice. That'll undo them!

Tim_GTi - yh there are the winter wheels, i kinda like 16" ( the diamond cut finish on the 16" is just bananas)
but i reckon the 17" would look better after using this slam compared to the 4x4 look i had before lol

TimGti - thats how i nearly cracked em!, then i nearly set em on fire using a blow torch ...that didnt work either
