Powerflex bushes

Post by Tusc_si »

Hi all,

Just after some feedback on Powerflex bushes and how much difference this makes to the cars handling?

I'm finding the in sharp left turns the rear is very loose, so much so I can power slide roundabouts

I'm no stranger to this as the TVR loves a good power slide but I'm sure the Polo is not meant to do it. I get the feeling that the rear bushes or somthing is adrift, any thoughts?

Any help would be great.

There's a group buy currently trying to take off in the GB section, not sure if anyone has actually gone ahead with it though, I know Neil (username Sorted) purchased some, give him a shout see his feedback.

An alternative would be the Ibiza ARB, apparently it makes a massive difference, but am unsure on how easy they are to get hold of (if you find out let me know!! I want one at some point)

Heres the ARB thread

And the Group buy thread

Blimey I'd forgotten about the rear ARB, I never did get one back in September last year. Maybe this year hey! The feedback from those who had one was excellent 8)

Coilovers and the rear ARB respectively are meant to make the biggest differences in handling. Certainly the coilovers for me, the car felt so much better round corners although at the sacrafice of crap ride quality

I got a set, 55 quid delivery. You can only get the front for the GTI BTW.

There is very little play in them - and they defo give a good advantage round the bends - but you do lose some comfort having them as there alot rougher. I fitted mine myself - they are a pain to fit as there much tighter, took me about 2 hours to get one wishbone back in  was a pain!!

While i had the wishbones out i done this (no one sees them but i know there there :D)

These are the cheapest i could find:

Yeah I would defo say they made a big biffrence. I should be getting my upper and lower braces at the weekend so im hoping after putting them on the front should be pretty good for handling 8) The back of the car is coming down a bit lowerer as well after the weekend as im getting the arches done on Saturday so that should also help 8)

The fronts will help a little, but not massivley, i've been running them for ages now, and were a piece of p*** to fit, some grease and they slipped in no bother, too a whole half hour to do the both sides.

The rear ARB will make your car Drift out more in the corners, as it stiffens the rear up making it loose the grip. same as if inflating your tyres rock solid make the wheels spin and the car slide more.
