Got my car today!

Well today i bought my first car ever!

She's a Polo Mk 4, dark blue metallic colour (not sure the proper name), 999cc, P reg, 77k, manual, petrol, 5 door!

I'm really pleased with it, looks like its got plenty of potential. I've still got 2 months before I'm 17 so I've got a bit of time to do her up a bit. I've fitted a Kenwood KDC-237SA CD player and I've ordered some clear indicators and a mesh grill. Gonna take of my bumper strips and debadge the boot as well I think. Eventually I will get some coilovers and some nice wheels but I can't afford them at the moment

Any other suggestions as to what I could do?

It has a great party piece, the rear windscreen sprayer is obviously twisted or something and it shoots the spray backwards. We were sitting at some traffic lights and my dad pulled the spray and it went all over a brand new Merc behind us! lol!

Oh, I also have a question. I installed my head unit but the aerial doesnt plug in so I'll need an adaptor, does anyone know what I'll need, I took a picture to show you the connections at both ends:

Anyone know what adapter I will need?

Nice car you have there, 1 month till i'm 17 so i've got my car all preped up

My rear spray jet doesn't even spray, so think yourself lucky

Normally i'd say alloys and lowering but at our age that will just put insurance through the roof

Cheers mate. Yeah the insurance is gonna be terrible if i lower it, I'll do it if I have the money tho...

How hard will the grill be to change?

Probably very easy, maybe what 3 clips or screws?

Best quote I got was from Quik fit (I know, what the hell lol) for Â£740 full comp so i'm very happy with that seeing as the car is a P reg 1.4CL.

Check out the DIY section for the mofications such as MK5 rear lights and debump strip removal.

3 clips, I reckon I can manage that, hehe. MK5 rear lights sounds like a good idea as well....

Didnt realise Quik fit did insurance lol, thats a good quote though, was that with the mods? Will have to see what they quote me.

The quote was mods undeclared (I don't class a rear bumper as a mod really, eveything else is just exterior which isn't major). I've read reviews and they don't seem to be that great, so i'm still looking around. Quinn-direct will insure me for Â£870 with another named driver 3rd party fire and theft, their reviews are on par with Direct line.

I'm not 100% on 3 clips/screws btw lol, but it shouldn't be hard.

my insurance is Â£800 with quinn direct and ive jus turnt 17 and that with all mods declaired and believe me there is alot ! lol

as for the areil go into your local hal-frauds and they will have one for bout Â£3 its just like a male connector

taking the front grille off is easy enough, undo the top clips in the middle that conect it to the body, then work ur way round the bottom, from the outside in. piece of p*** it really is.

I got the exactly the same car

999cc 5 door in dark blue, as for the rear nozzle, you could replace the plastic nozzle cover not sure if you can buy it separate or whether it comes as an altogether part with several other pieces.

My nozzle recently broke as well good fun tho, I'd say keep it that way so when summer comes and people are crossing behind you... SPRAY THEM and drive off. As for what else you could do is you could remove the rear wiper altogether to neaten it up I think its in the DIY section on how to do it as well.

As for the grill its easy it unclips like everyone else has said but the clips are easy to break if you ever do manage to break them cable ties are your solution.

nice mate... im ensured with quinn direct.. i got loads of mods, r best bet is to go on money supermarket and get a quote and watevers cheepest go to there own site cos itle be cheeper again .. not by much but it all helps, ....i debadged my front grille and it was....like all the others are saying piece of p***... i took a screwdriver to it and poped out the clips bt the standered grille is fragile bt who cares u dont need it any more lol and as for the rear washer ...mine was twisted....sounds like a common falt...and to that guy with the broken washer that doest work, there sould be a thin tube rnning up the right hand side of yr engine along the metal look careflly... i had to reconnect mine. btw way it is a 1.6 and the ensurence is around Â£830 with my dad as main driver

You must be chuffed Dan to finally have a car and get underway! The arial need a connector as mentioned above and your doing all the bits I could think of that are cheap and cheerful. Try HIC as well, they seem to be quite good and mods declared, not sure on young drivers though.

If you get mk5 rears make sure you get the bulb carriers too and minor wiring changes need to be made me thinks.

Sounds like Quinn Direct is the way to go for insurance, i got a quote for Â£920 from them which is really good considering all the other quotes I was getting were at least Â£1300!

Btw, roughly what pressure should my tyres be at? I think the front two need pumping up but I'm not sure what they should be at, cheers guys.

Open the fuel cap up it should say on there

I keep mine on about 31psi

Yeah I've decided to go with Quinn-Direct in may, It'll cost me Â£854 which is a massive saving on what other companies were quoting me. I thought i'd have to wait until august to get my spoiler and bumper sprayed, now I wont

I also need to know the PSI for the tyres, i'm assuming around 35 PSI on standard steels with budgets?

Yeah, I'm really excited to have something to work on, just gotta wait till the stuff I've ordered arrives now. I'll have a look at HIC as well, cheers mate.
