crashed my gti
hi, came round a corner yesterday didnt realise there was a speed bump went over it and my car came off the ground lost controle and smashed side ways into a kurb
damaged my wish bone, drive shaft sill wing and wheel. ive managed to get everyting apart from a wheel, it can be refurbed but would prefer a second hand one, can any one help, the wheel is a bbs which comes on the polo colour concepts. ive been told the car came of the ground because of my coilovers because it was way too low and there was no play in the suspension, so advise to anyone who has there car low as mine be careful because i landed on top of my steering wheel and came 5-6 inches of my seat, very scarey. hopefully back on road tomorrow

dont be put off coilovers neil they aint dangerous just make sure you get a quality set like fk's
im running coilovers and they are fine!
as sorted said you must of been going too fast round the corner to take off.
i dont even go fast enough to leave the ground over speed bumps LOL
best of luck getting things sorted mate

Coilovers aren't dangerous Neil don't worry, I've had no troubles with mine (KW Variant 1's down somewhere between 60-70mm)neilGTI wrote:sorry to hear about that![]()
How low were/are you on the coilovers, and were you going fast ?
I have been looking into getting some coilovers, but wont be if they are dangerous
The only time my wheels have left the ground are on a lift and over a humpback bridge at 40mph

Re: crashed my gti
you took off because of speed, not your coilovers! how come you landed on your steering wheel? sounds like a nasty accident but how fast were you going to NOT see a speed bump round a corner? or did you just not see it for other reasons?! glad no one was hurt either.my_little_polo wrote:hi, came round a corner yesterday didnt realise there was a speed bump went over it and my car came off the ground lost controle and smashed side ways into a kurbdamaged my wish bone, drive shaft sill wing and wheel. ive managed to get everyting apart from a wheel, it can be refurbed but would prefer a second hand one, can any one help, the wheel is a bbs which comes on the polo colour concepts. ive been told the car came of the ground because of my coilovers because it was way too low and there was no play in the suspension, so advise to anyone who has there car low as mine be careful because i landed on top of my steering wheel and came 5-6 inches of my seat, very scarey. hopefully back on road tomorrow

Hope you get it sorted soon.
Definitely mate, I've never heard of coilovers being dangerous in this way before, they're prefectly safeneilGTI wrote:I think i am gonna keep saving for a set of coilovers then, i stop for speed bumps at the moment anyway so having coilovers wont make any difference to me on that front.
