Rear Wiper Cap Popping Off!!

Post by Girlfriends_POLO »

Hi all,

Just changed the rear wiper for an aero wiper as the fronts came with them but the rear had the old style one fitted and only cleaned the middel part of the window.

The problem i now have is that the cap for the Aero arm doesnt fit, It pops off when it starts to wipe. Does the cap need modifying or have i been giving the wrong part??
I bought it from Vag-parts so its genuine.

The part number is 606.955.435.B

Cheers

you probably need to change the clip tbh! i used the same wiper blades on mine and had to change the clip for the old one! failing that use a cable tie lol!

Hummm, that's strange, the original arched wiper covers used to pop off when you lifted the arm to clean the window, if no one else comes up with the answer by tonight I'll check up on the parts I bought to change my wife's to to aero.

I used to have a Golf and when changing to the Aero wiper i know some people needed to modify the cap, im starting to think that i may have been given the kit for a Golf.

Its a 2002 9n 1.2s in case thats important

It happens sometimes. It's the same part for the Polo and the Golf. When i had my polo I had no problems but the cap pops off on the Golf. i had to sand a few mm off the cap to get it to stay on.

DONE!!!! Sanded the cap down by a good 2-3mm and its now perferct. I think the washer jet must be further out on some cars than others.

Cheers for your help guys

I was going to suggest it wasn't fitted quite right. they sometimes have to be really pushed on hard in order to slot into place properly.
