Opinions of a front spoiler without the rest of the kit...

Post by K.I.T.T. »

Well after two months, I can finally get the scrape on my front bumper sorted out (thanks to an incompetent female driver in my uni, who can't reverse ).

Anyway, the front bumper and grill is gonna be sorted out through the other party's insurance, and I thought I'd get some other things done at the same time as it works out cheap, ie. colour coding the bump strips, respraying the tailgate handle and possibly sorting out two minor spot dents which do my head in (can only see them when stood a mile away )

Anyway, VAG parts quoted my £28 for the 9n3 GTi front spoiler...the same for the rear spoiler (no plans for a backbox so I'll give that a miss), but £218 for the side skirts... :(

Just wanted your thoughts on just adding the front spoiler...would it look naff without side skirts?

Cheers,
Ash :)

Buy the votex skirts (my sig) as you'll find them for waaay cheaper and IMO look better.

I dont think the 9n3 spoiler will fit the 9N bumper either mate. (you'll need the votex one like I have in my sig)

Ah right...cheers for that! On abdnmoh's thread, someone replied to my question and told me he had a 9n3 GTi front splitter

Been quoted £147 for the votex front splitter, £170 for the rear and £212 for the side skirts (all excl. VAT)

This sound right, or is it a bit steep? Like £500 for the kit?

Cheers,
Ash :)

Sounds about the right price for new stuff. Votex kit looks cool.

The GTI doesn't have a special front spoiler though, it just has the same bit of black plastic tacked under the front bumper as a base model. Shame really, I've been thinking about the 9N3 Votex front spoiler for mine but am in two minds about it.

Sorry mate, I think they thought u were asking about the sideskirts on my car. The front splitter and the roof spoiler on my car is from votex.

The sideskirts as well as the rear apron are all from the 9n3 GTi.

Most people dont buy the votex kit from dealers, they wait for the whole kit to come up on ebay or on forums. So that price of £500 is only from VW/vagparts etc, normally u can get it for about £250.

Hope that clears it up 8)

Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one

Original question still holds true, reckon it'll look alright with just the votex front spoiler and no side skirts? And also, I'm assuming that it's just held on with an adhesive and no screws? Can someone confirm?

Cheers,
Ash :)

2 Screws at each end into the arch liner and 2 underneath, adhesive round the rest of it. Reckon it'll look ok, but better with the skirts aswell!
