Cold Air Intake

Post by GeeTeeI »

Does anyone on here have any Cold Air Intake piping installed into their engine? I've noticed the GTI's get pretty damn hot in the engine and when mine get's hot it loses a fair bit of performance.

Yes I may be selling it, but if I can make this very un-tuneable car a bit quicker, I could be tempted to do the financialy right thing and keep it!

Is there any tried and tested mods I could try myself? Has anyone ever supercharged one...bearing in mind it would need a new gearbox every few days if it were my one...

Cheers

I used that guide myself, its great!

Supercharging it is more hassle than its worth, It's been done a couple of times (I've even seen one in person).

Best bet for more power is an engine transplant, the gearbox just can't handle anything else.

Haha...I wish...

I have a monster pile of other jobs that need doing first...

Maybe in 6 months....

The engine was such a good deal that I couldnt say no.....if im honest I havnt even looked into how exactly im going to mount it, but it cant be that hard....

If you can build a car from scratch you can fit a VW engine into a VW.....Famous last words!

How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking? and whats the milage on it?

I'm often tempted to do this kinda thing sometime later down the line, but I just don't know half as much about engines as I need to really, to pull anything like it off.
