Exhuast Why change??!!!

Post by whitegtipolo »

If you read this page the tuning guys down under fitted a full 2.5inch system with a remap and said the standard exhaust is that good they didnt show any gains on dyno :? meaning why change anything apart from the back box! Heard a few things on the polo gti exhaust being good!

i made 202 hp with just a map, 007p, pd 160 intake and green filter,

now, with the turbo back exhaust, n75j and forge TIP, im sat at 222.5 hp with no adjustments to the map im using,

so with just those mods i gained 20 hp, and just the exhaust made it feel like a mini remap again, the n75j just smooths things out a bit and the TIP made acceleration feel more instant and elastic

Hi Jeff,

It's been dynoed and proven that TIP doesn't add any power, so must be the down pipe (which shows the biggest gain) and n75j possibly adding up to that power.

In Australia, the down pipe alone showed 10kw gain at the wheels. (3"). That's around 13hp at wheels.

Back box (muffler section) unforutnately doesn't give u more power other than nice sound track.

was the TIP tested on a tuned car? as the more power you have the more the standard intake is going to collapse under boost so you'd think a TIP would increase power

i dunno if that one would fit but i'd stick to forge due to the solid construction, the cheaper ones can also collapse under boost - although i'm not saying that one will, as i know nothing about that brand

looks nothing like my forge one mate, things are in different places, and rather than skimp, your best to stick to the original part, remember, your uprating it for a reason

also from rollers experience, the forge TIP raises power and torque quite noticably in the mid range, and allows for faster spool up too

Same.

The test in the OP has been proved false buy many cars here in Australia.

2.5' dump pipe and 3' from cat to muffler is what you want.

in my opinion if a cant feel the difference on the road its a waste of money! im gunna try the j valve and thats bout it maybe a down pipe?? its fast enough with the remap to be honest any more and it will be a death trap LOL

If you want more power after a remap then a dump pipe is proven to provide up to 13bhpatw which is pretty good for a small outlay.
