exhaust solutions?
exhaust solutions?
in january i fitted a jetex stainless cat back exhaust to the gti and after a while driving it i dont feel any improvement for the extra noise so im tempted to remove it and refit the standard but with a de cat pipe to free things up. the original plan was to get a de catted downpipe made to match the 2.5" jetex but after using the car daily i think its gonna be stupidly loud! just wondering what people think the best way to go is? i was also looking to buy a manifold soon too but not sure if is worth it? any ideas?
I'm running a Jetex cat-back system. There is an increase in power but its only slight.
You can't expect to get huge power gains from an exhaust upgrade on the Polo. A manifold can make a difference but depends on which one you get.
To be perfectly honest I think even if you have all these upgrade it won't make a huge difference because at the end of the day you need to remember it is a Polo after all.

What he said...
The polo is relativly highly tuned by VW anyway....125hp out of a 1.6 is fairly high for a standard production car...
I know some of the performance exhausts out there are actually worse for power than the standard one!
The standard exhaust and induction is actually quite good....the weakness is the head and intake manifold...
If you really want to increase air flow through the head the best way of doing it would be to take the head and intake manifold off and clear out all the casting flanges and have the intake matched to the head as well as having the combsution chambers balanced....but is there really any point on such a car...
