xbox 360 vs ps3

Post by mysteryboy »

Lets settle this one once & for all.....

With gta coming out just around the corner I need to buy one or the other...

This that is putting me off the xbox is the fact they seem to go faulty or do I fork out extra £100 notes on ps3?

Opinions?

so long as you keep it ventilated mate they wont break. Mine hasnt in almost 2 years. If your buying a console for gta4 then i would say go for the 360 because rockstar have confirmed that in a couple of months they will release downloadable content exclusive to the xbox which will add around 10hours to the game. I prefer 360 over ps3 but saying that i dont own both only played my mates ps3 and i couldnt see any reason to own one as well as the xbox.

I had my 360 for 3 years, loved it but never got round to playing online with it due to having to pay so much a year etc etc. A couple of months ago it broke with the "3 rings of death" or whatevers so it's totally knackered!

So i went out, bought a PS3 and love it! So easy to get online (also free) and i've got no complaints what so ever

PS3 FTW :D

Whenever I've seen a thread like this on other forums they seem to go on and on and on and on and....well you get the idea! Its always the fan boys for the one console that seem to think that their console is the best and all others are the spawn of satan   and won't listen to any reason.

I've got the PS3 purely because I have had the other playstations in the past, and I much prefer the PS3 controller to the xbox. The only game I have played that made me consider wanting an Xbox was Project Gotham racing on the original Xbox. I played it round my cousins once and thought it was quality.

Xbox currently has more games out, and at the moment you are fairly limited on the PS3, for now.
Xbox is supposed to have the better online capabilities (never used but its what I have heard), but then again you have to pay for it
Xbox is cheaper

PS3 I believe has better hardware (processor, etc), but dont quote me on that :?
PS3 is free online
PS3 has HDMI output (not sure if Xbox has this) for HD gaming
PS3 has a built in blue ray player, for HD movies - Xbox will never have this
The Blueray player in the PS3 is also the only blueray player that is being regularly updated.
PS3 is getting Metal Gear Solid exclusively, and I think GT5 is excusive to the PS3 too. :?
PS3's are more reliable, I think its something like 0.2% that have gone faulty, as apposed to Xbox's 50% or something stupid (disclaimer, not exact figures )

Anyway for me its same as Chris, PS3 FTW

the 360 does have hdmi output on the elite and some of the premiums. If you want high definition films then get the ps3 as blueray has won the format war. Online the £40 is a bit of a downside but you do get access to unlimited demo downloads and trailers, which is handy when you not sure about buying a game. Xbox live does have issues with reliability but lately they have released a number of patches to fix this. Time will tell when gta launches whether live can handle the huge numbers attempting to connect. I owned all the previous playstations i just havent seen anything that makes me want a ps3.

As a PS3 owner, I'd probably say go with the PS3.

The only downside, as noted above, is the general lack of interesting new games for it currently. But that's something which can only improve over time anyway.

I did consider a 360 before I got my PS3, and it was the reliability horror stories that really put me off. My PS3 on the other hand has worked fine since I got it.

I've got neither and still haven't decided between the Wii, the 360 or the PS3. I am probably getting a Wii as since buying a DS I am a total convert to the likes of Mario Bros, Mario Kart etc etc and I've played on a few friend's consoles and love it.

Anyway. Between the 360 and the PS3, right now I'd go for a 360. BUT I'm waiting to see what happens with the release of the full GT5 game as that'll be only on the PS3 and I love Gran Turismo with a passion! And by that point the console might have come down to a more reasonable purchase price

Yeah I know  - I keep logging on to see if you are on there, but no joy.

I should be in tonight so I'll have a few checks to see if you are on, and you can set up a league thing :D

Oh yeah I forgot about the elite one, I was just thinking of something I'd read somewhere.

Gt5 is going to be a big selling point for the ps3 as it is exclusive but luckly i not into racing sims. I not trying to slag off any other console at all but at the moment i cant see the point of me having both console because for what i use the console for there is no major difference and no incentive to buy both. Thats not to say that one is better than the other but they both do pretty much the same thing. I would get a wii tho as that is something totally different that neither of its competitors can offer

i bought the xbox 360 arcaid *the basic s**t one*
as it was the cheapest it comes with an HDMI output aand therefore workes just as good as a premium..

the main reason i got one was it was alot cheaper than PS3 and more of my friends had xbox for online.

but i've allways owned a playstation so one day i'll probs buy a ps3/4 lol

if you be reasonable there both amazing things :D
