i tend to stick to the limit in built up areas, 30 in a 30 etc.... 75 on the motorway, theyre getting tough on speed these days.... and on derestricted roads i just go as fast as i feel. the road to my girlfriends is 7 miles of sodding good fun!! take care on back lanes n stuff though. blind corners are a swine, and unless i know the road well, i wont go nuts.

I've already had a mahoosive crash which my body still remembers 18months later (speeding wasn't the culprit and I wasn't at fault). So I do think to myself; "what if a something pulled out between them cars right now?" as I drive along some roads/streets wondering wot'd happen. Also I do know what the consequences can be as witnessed a mates car 106 do 3 flips before resting from 90mph and my own nephew was killed as a result of his friend racing around.

However, in a day and age we're so used to faster things I find myself straddling the limit sometimes on average 3-8mph more then set without noticing. I'd admit i've been irresponsible on motorways about 3 times doing 125mph on a clear motorway.

I don't drive like a speed freak like some people as London's busy enough to scare you into thinking your driving in India! Another thing i've noticed is I drive really slow like 5mph below the limit on sundays!

The speeding issue should be frowned upon if someones driving irresponsibly but I do find some people doing so then tearing around in cars themselves. E.g. I organise Eastern Dubs and everyones fine at the meet. 10-15 cars always tear up the road on their way out racing down the A406 like mad.

Some don't and others do whilst thinking about it. Others however don't really care till something happens to them.

i make a point not to speed in built up areas, villages, town etc. but i will let it loose a bit on empty long roads. im not stupid, and i enjoy the adrenaline rush like the next guy, but ive already had one speeding ticket for doing 80 in a 70 limit, and i dont wana get another one. im slower when my girlfriend or family or even friends are in the car as well.

i've done a 130mph on the motorway a couple of times, adrenelin rush at the time but now i look back at it and think "how bloody stupid!"

i like to think of myself as a decent driver, been driving around 7.5 years, with no crashes, tickets or pulls but you always have to be weary that something could happen.
my dad has been driving for 40years, has a totally clean liscence and still says he is learning all the time!

in built up areas, 30mph is more than enough i feel, especially in a lowered car having raised man hole covers and large potholes that could potentially destroy parts of your car
the new 50mph speed areas, as Dave Burton said, do irritate me as it just seems neither here nor there as a speed limit.

on motorways, i'll generally cruise along at 80mph, depending on conditions and the need for fuel economy.
