Anyone got an oil temperature gauge fitted?

Post by alexperkins »

Hi All,

Im after some advice. Im wanting to install an oil temperature guage to make sure the engine is running at optimum temp before pushing it a little.

Has anyone done this, and if so where is the gauge mounted, and how does it work?

Thanks

I know that to operate it, you need to press Cold Air, Down and Econ buttons, and then you use red/blue (Hot/Cold) to look through the channels.

Not sure which channel is for oil temp. though

no its the correct temp ! all it does is converts the code 2 somthing thats readable just like 5052 does infact it uses all the same codes as 5052 so it can desplay alot more than oil temp !

Are you guys saying that the oil temp is obtainable by pressing certain buttons on the climatronic?

Or that you can modify it to use the same screen?

Channel 1 is outside temperature, Channel 16 is speed in KM/H.

Link for further explanation.

The buttons you need to press are Fan Down, Temperature Colder and ECON at the same time. Press ECON to exit.

Know English Channels,

1 Interior temperature (sensor)
3 Sunlight sensor
7 Coolant temperature sensor
9 Blower speed (adjustable)
10 Measured blower speed (sensor)
11 Defog valve (adj. 0-255)
12 Dashboard ventilation valve (adj. 0-255)
13 Recirculation valve (adj. 0-255)
14 Lower ventilation valve (adj. 0-255)
16 Speed (sensor)

I've added it to the Polo GTI Mods Sticky, so you guys can use it as a referencing tool.
