Engine madness or common sense???

Ok...

Saw this on ebay... couldn't work out if I was impressed by the madness or by the fact it was quiet a cool engine mod...

1.3 (1.0 on the logbook but didnt make much difference to insurance), suzuki gsxr 600 carbs with custom inlet manifold, GT camshaft, cleaned up the ports and skimmed head, raceland 4 branch manifold straight through to a jetex laser backbox.

I don't think I could pull this off my self, so credit for doing it if the owner did it himself.

Any engineers here or clever dubbers like Jarno, that can tell me if this will do much for performance??? and if it is madness or common sense?

It doesn't seem stupid, i wouldn't put so much work into a 1.3 though. Does it say what it's now pushing out now?

sheer madness.
All the work on the car was done by myself and my dad. I made the inlet manifold as a d.t a level project. I did it because i enjoy it and really cant afford to buy a faster car, saying that all the money i spent on this one could have had one.
It runs really well, havent had it on the rollers so not sure how much power, i had kawasaki 1100 carbs on it orginally, ran much smoother but didnt pull as well top end

sick. Feel like sharing any details on this little project? like prices and such...

I intend on doing just about everything youve done here to an AEE (1.6). should see 100bhp hopfully and a decent amount of torque

Yep, one of my mates is planning to do this to his 16v but I'd be weighing how much money/effort i'd be spending against power increase.

bike carbs give a very good increase in performance compared to cost, you can spend Â£300 on an exhaust system but bike carbs give a much bigger gain.
i made the manifold myself so only cost was for material, about Â£15, bogg bros make them for under Â£200, then all is needed is a T piece, fuel pressure regulator and effort. Im running a low pressure pump as well but apparently the original high pressure pump, onto a T piece with a return to tank and regulator onto the carbs also works. It cost me about Â£300 for everything, it can be done for a little less if you can surce the parts cheap.
A 1.6 on carbs should be great fun

how much would it cost to do all of that ruffly. withought the exhaust? might want it doing. any one like foreigners?? if i supply the parts..got my eyes on bike carbs already..

also would it make your enginee unstable tho? need remapping and everything.. and then would you not need a boostvalve etc etec to get it to its peak?

Remapping wouldn't be needed as the way i understand it your eliminating the ECU from the equation.

Dont know about boost valves....

The price is all very dependant on who does your work for you. If you do it yourself then its not a problem!

Im very expensive you see because i dont know what im doing so the pound per hour labour charge would probably run into a void area where i would have to start charging in years rather then hours! lol.

Fuel pressure regulator though ay? Dont know nout about those. What regulator are you using then??

o right.. i thought cus the pressure of everthing is bieng alterd. the air itnake is bieng alterd. youd need a re-map to support it, and atleast a oil catch tank to stabalise it all a bit.

im running a king regulator, there not to expensive, about Â£30 and its adjustable.
Bike carbs get rid of the standard fuel injection and intake so no need for remapping or anything. You can get a programable ignition but its alot of money.

Thats how i shouldve said it earlier instead of the long winded way lol.

King regulator ay? Is that a tuning part or just a standard thing off another car?

What pump you thinking off uprating too?
