He's in fourth gear, but since he drives carbs and no electronical injection, there's no electric rev-limiter, he put on the ignition from an older Polo engine (don't know which one exactly), on this video he goes up to about 9000rpm, he told me ones he doesn't dare to go any higher, fearfull of the pistons hitting valves :?

woah i dont blame him! Dont suppose you could find out what ignition he was running could you! 7500rpm sounds like a good number to change up at to me lol. Screw 9000rpm! Thats dangerous territory.

what rev counter is he using then? Dont suppose you know how much of a job it is to stick a new shiny rev counter with stupid amounts of rpm's on is do you?

Its something i never thought of or looked into...

Just get your electronic rev-limiter raised to whatever rpm you like (ok, 10.000rpm isn't achievable with a standard engine lol!) and your tacho will go past the red ;) but don't do this, since there's a reason VW never got the red so far up the rev's

Well, think of it this way, if VW made a 1,4 16v NA with a 101bhp stock, which is reliable etc., why should a 1,4 8v NA not be capable of 100+bhp after work on it?
