Genuine Castrol Edge 5W30 - VW507.00 Approved

Post by ihpj »

Being tired of getting ripped off for engine oil I have been doing some research and have identified a wholesale supplier who is willing to supply the above oil, fully factory sealed (recent fill dates) in 1L bottles - only snag is that it would be on a pallet.

Having done some maths, if I were to offer the oil for sale to Forum Members at £10 PER LITRE DELIVERED - would there be any interest/ would that be a fair price?

I am just sick to death at paying circa £15 (or more) for engine oil that, if could be bought elseplace could provide a huge saving. What would people's thoughts be?

IMO I always used 5w30 opposed to vw's 10w40 recommendation, but thats me. £10 a litre, isn't 5litres like £20-30? What castrol is it, the basic one, GTX or edge?

It is the edge stuff :), that stuff for £10 doesn't sound bad considering its usally £15 per litre from shops and the 4L ones cost £43 so yours is still cheaper :D but your prices are closely on par with ebay. Either that or become an ebay seller of it haha

Yes its the 'Castrol Edge' - having looked at eGay before - it worked out at £10 plus P+P for a 1L bottle.

Although I am the first to admit that if you were to buy 8L a go (again from eGay) then it works out around £7 per litre delivered...so this might be a no-goer :(

Well I thought I'd offer up as you never know unless you ask about. Wonder what other folks think on the price?

Since you asked - I saw the advert and was tempted, but personally I'd go for the Millers equivalent @ 5L for about £40.

Popped into COSTCO today to buy 40L of SVO - spotted 3 x 1L bottles of Castrol Edge --> £15 INC. <-- bought one triple pack and did an oil/filter change this afternoon.

I love Costco ;)
