bastard car - rant

Since i've had my Polo GTI (4 weeks) ive always had a problem in some form or another, its starting to really p*** me off

First problem was the car slipping out of 5th gear, and eventually resulting the in the gear linkages getting wrecked.(week after purchase)

So had the linkages re-welded.

Next problem was the ECU always going into "limp mode" and limiting the car to 5000 revs and cutting out on me - so got that fixed and had the speed sensor replaced..

and today even after a 100% no faults vagcom run since sensor fitting - the stuttery,jaggedy ride continued

im starting to think about selling up and get a 1.0 lupo which does 60mpg

Sigh, is this common ? does everyone have no end of probs with their gti ?

the speed sensor went on mine mate, sounds like its gone again

just look on the bright side, at least its just a few sensors going rather than anything serious!

Have you checked your air filter? is it aftermarket? may need replacing if they keep popping on you

Its unlikely that you would get 60mpg out of a 1.0 litre lupo, most of them average at 45mpg

Plus it would be soooooooo slow to drive compared to the polo GTI.

I haven't had any major problems 'touch wood'.

I can remember Max having problem after problem with his though, his list was alot longer than yours. And he's flyer now!

At the end of the day it's totally down to whether you think it's worth it or not. Don't let the chain of unfortunate events change your overal oppinion on th GTi though.

Yeahh i love the bastard thing though!

Got voodoo to do a VAGCOM yesterday after work and few errors came up, with resolutions pointing to Spark plugs/HT Leads - So i'm hoping that will be a nice easy one to resolve... *preys*

I just think its a shame the car has been previously owned by morons that havent maintained the car at all, so all the hard work has been passed onto me and my wallet...

im gonna treat her to some evo desgin 14" (14x9) (14x8) next month and some coilies
