Rupie's 16v Black 6n

Post by Rupie »

Hey there guys, did a little work to my car over the last couple of days, so thought id finally get some pics up!

Here she is how i got her, Dirty inside and out, bumpstrips and all...
Image

Naturally the offending strips had to go...
Image
Image

Next up the door cards came off, to see if i could fix my electric window i was asking about in the DIY forums
Image
Turns out one of the runners had come unhooked from the bracket holding the window, and the plastic clip had sheared off...
Image
One self tapped, some araldite and a large washer later, my window was fixed =]

next up where the badges from the rear..
Image
Then i just gave her a really good wash, shampoo and hoover inside, and a polish..

The i stuck the door cards back on =]
Im aware the next pic makes it look like a monster truck!
Coilies on the way soon after ive sorted out a few little things. probably do some DIY referb on the wheels too, as i cant really afford anything nicer atm!
Image
Thanks for looking guys let me know what you think!

Looks great mate, glad to see someone made use of my bump strip guide

Get her lowered and it'll look fantastic. I'd suggest getting the front badge black and the rear wiper changed to one of those chunkier looking ones 8) Just my thoughts though!

cheers man=]
the sides need some buffing after the de bumpstripping, looks like a previous owner had had the door bottoms reprayed without removing the strips... the result is a really small ridge of paint, only noticable if your on your knees infront of it lol... but i want her to be perfect=]

as for the grill im gonna go for a badgeless one, possibly with a 16v badge in it, and probably get rid of the rear wiper all together in my quest for smoothness :P

Ive got a right idea for wheels, but i might keep it to myself, as ive never seen andyone on this forum with them before or heard anyone talk about them..

cheers for the feedback tho=] much appreciated, im loving your car too, was looking at your topic earlier on, kinda inspired me to do mine!

Here's what a set from a lupo look like (two passegner arms)

Looks the nuts but is an expensive mod.

Most people opt for the retro fit ones (like myself)

you can get these for about £20 delivered from wiperblades.co.uk

ah cool, so, sorry to sound dumb, is it just a cosmetic thing? they dont look radically different from the normal ones. was thinking of maybe finally... and i mean finally lol last thing on my to do list... single wiper conversion.
dunno, its abit boyracer but i think it looks good on a 'euro'd' car...
mines far from euro atm haha

i find Aero wipers certainly perform better than standard ones, it's not a huge difference though, definitely cosmetic.

Single wipers are alright:

Full Aero conversion is better though IMO

ah i seee, cheers for that, i like that red polo=]
was thinking about it when i was buying mine... vw red is notorious for turning pink tho, so i figured black was a safe bet.

I'm not too keen on the single wiper conversion, more of an OEM fan myself. I know it's probably silly, but whats the point in aero wipers? I really couldn't tell the difference until I looked at a pic of my normal ones.

Red looks fantastic (no bias here :D ) however like you said, it does fade over time unfortuantly. I can't leave mine for any more than a month without the oxidiation coming back, it's all about paintwork care though. Hopefully mine will look back to it's fresh colour when it goes for respray

They look better for starters.

And I think the new design enables the weight of the arm to be distributed more evenly over the blade, meaning it does a better job.

Not 100% sure on that, but I feel it does perform better than OEM standard ones regardless.

hehe now now boys, dont turn my car thread into a fight over wipers topic  haha.
just kidding!
i think the single wiper conversion looks amazing on the right car, i saw one ages ago that i cant find a pic of now, was a black 16v that was on pistonheads about 6 months ago, sooo soo low and wide with schmidt TH lines, and it had a single wiper, it just looked so mean lol.
i do like the OEM+ look, but i also like the other extreme, which i just outlined above lol. perhaps aeros if i go down the oem route?
single if i go for full out euro?
im going to have to get a better job first, im sick of working long hours for pittence lol.
Once i get something paying double what i get atm, maybe ill be able to afford a euro look car with a single wiper!

Save your cash and have bits for both! One year go for the euro look, deep dish, wide stance and the single wiper ( ) and then the other year go for OEM+, aero wipers and BBS alloys.

Don't talk to me about pay, it'll take me 3 months of full time work to pay off my lowering and respray :x With yours being the 16v already you get most of the common exterior mods anyway (bumpers, rear lights and alloys).
