UPDATE:

Just ordered a new set of 195/40/R16 Toyo Proxes T1-Rs - another bucket load of money! It just doesnt stop.

All the new parts are arriving tomorrow, so I can get the car back together again.

Goes in on July 1st for its clutch, rear discs, rear pads, and the G60 front disk and carrier switch, as I cant get the bolts undone.

In other news, I got an exchange on my drivebelt, so it fits now :) Was the original belt made in December 1999 - impressive!

The new lights arrived today, as did all the little bits and pieces remaining to be fitted :) Just got to put the new stowage tray in now under the radio, and two more bolts in the wheel arches.

Anyway here are some pics of the new lights - so shiny and clear its unbelievable :D

Looks fantastic mate!

Need to invest in one of those LED interior lights!

How does it dim when you shut the door?

Is that GTi spec or custom job?

They are just new GTI Discharge projection headlamps. Retailing at a cost of £480 without bulbs or ballasts. Its something if you fit to yours, you should definately look for on a crashed GTI - each side with bulbs and ballasts totals just under £500 (thats just one side!) if you buy them seperately!

These have 6000k D2S bulbs in, LED sidelights and Xenon H1 Main Beams.

Makes my headlights look well grubby in comparison.

Well this morning has seen a slight problem. The passenger side HID bulb is refusing to light. It just flickers briefly, and then fails. My fears are confirmed - I had a small feeling I would have problems like this, just like Andy did with his.

Im currently in talks over an exchange for 4300k OEM bulbs, but if thats not possible, Ill have to get new ballasts to power the 6000k bulbs (which is more expense that Im not keen on forking out!)

Oh well, hopefully it will all get resolved by monday.

Get onto HIDS4U Alex, I haven't had any troubles with mine whatsoever - first time every time.

I will. Its only the passenger side - sort of flashes when you turn it on, and on the 5 or 6th time itll ignite - totally unexplainable!

Right. I swapped the bulbs earlier. It appears that the problem is following the bulb - faulty bulb I think, so Ill get onto them for a replacement bulb.

edit: Well, it appears both bulbs are igniting fine now, since i swapped them around. Its a really strange issue, that has been strangely resolved!

That gap above the headlight really annoys me. I can't understand how the passenger side fits in nicely but the driver's side doesn't.
