Hello all, just after a bit of advice. I'm just getting ready for a journey down to the south of france so I thought now was a good time to get the cam belt changed. My polo is a 51 plate (2001) and has 52k on the clock. The mechanic said he thinks the water pump needs changing on vw's round about 60k so it's a good idea to get it done at the same time. Is this right or shall do you think I should just leave it??
Thanks in advance
Does the waterpump need changing when cambelt gets changed?

As you are already changing the cambelt, why not change the water pump & tensioners, as its false economy if you don't. Your mechanic will be able to access the pump so easily when its all stripped down, whats the point in not doing it!ModifiedMadness wrote:You want to be getting the cambelt, tensioners and water pump done at the same time mate.
Go for it, do it all. Especially with your trip onto the continent imminent!
