k&N inbox air filter
yesterday i've ordered the k&N air filter from ebay for 80$ inc shipping
hope this gonna make a small acceleration change.
next step is to remap the ecu, but i want to know how much is gonna make a diffrence for a 16v 100BHP
thanks

i hope it's true!
some say it's waste of money some say the cone air filter suck warm air to the engine and cause more harm then good.
so i decided to check it out myself (inbox - best bet).
about the manifold and remap the ecu(chip) i asked about that in tuning forums in israel and they confused me, they say the opposite answer then what you told me tim, they say it's waste of money for non-turbo cars or if anything it's might give me a little bit of addon of bhp 2-5.
i really hope they wrong because i want to make my polo stronger
thanks & waiting for you replies

Stainless steal manifold, decent air filter with a DECENT cold air feed, a decent exhaust system (possibly even de-catted for less restriction) topped off with a remap from a company who know what they are doing, will see you 140-150 bhp.
Its your decision whether you think it's a waste of money or not. And jsut keep in mind that the gearbox struggles to handle the standard power the engine delivers, so imagine what it'll do when it's given all this extra strain

this gearbox will explode for sure... and it's not cheap either
from 100 to 140 it's sound to optimisic
best bet i think is to save money for faster car golf gti 1.8 or ibiza turbo is my next car
every mod for those car adds many horse powers
just to let you know the retial price of polo 2000 gti in israel is 15,000$
how much is it in the uk
?

What Tim has put is right, a decent cold feed air filter & flowed manifold & exhaust system will net you around 8-10% (or more) power increase, plus a re-map, another possible 10-20BHP(again possibly more).Tim_GTi wrote:Stainless steal manifold, decent air filter with a DECENT cold air feed, a decent exhaust system (possibly even de-catted for less restriction) topped off with a remap from a company who know what they are doing, will see you 140-150 bhp.

Just using those conservative estimates you would be looking at 125BHP+, which is Polo GTI power!
