Exhaust size

Post by mart1n »

Need a new cat for a 2000 polo 16v gti (ARC) engine. Found some here but need to know how wide the exhaust is. I'm assuming its a 2" but does anyone know for sure. Cheers.

Not sure TBH. I need one cos this is my step daughters car, and her ex-boyfriend thought the car would go much much faster without it, so cut it out and binned it. So now it has no cat, no lambda sensor, no MOT. The guy's a pure genius, and actually works as a mechanic!!!

The exhaust system consists of a middle section, and a backbox. The middle section includes the catalytic converter (cat) and has a lambda sensor at the back for emissions calculations.
Taken from here. The ex BF took the car to an exhaust place and had an entire SS exhaust made up from the downpipe backwards. Her brother has had a quick look underneath and said he couldn't see the sensor, plus the car failed it's MOT on emmisions, which I'm sure the lambda probe would have been able to correct had it been there regardless of whether the cat was fitted or not. I can't even begin to tell you how much this guy has knackered what was a really nice car.
