LOST MY CAR KEY!!!

HI, i lost my car key yesterday and luckily have a spare. i was thinking of buying a blank key off ebay and getting it cut. does anyone know if a 2000 6n2 has a chip in the key or any form of immobiliser or am i aright to just get it cut?????

has an immobiliser chip in the key :wink:

yeah mine had to be reprogrammed due to a ECU fault. chip talks to ignition then igntion to ECU then lets you start the car if thats how i remeber rightly!

You will need a specific GTI blank as it has a different immobilizer chip to all the other models in the range.

Cant start the engine until this has been coded to the car - a cut key will turn ignition but thats as far as you will get. The fuel supply is cut until the immobiliser is disengaged.
