MY MKIV | Project Euro |

Post by Chrisrbower »

Hi there, im new to this forum after purchasing a MK4 1.4 CL 3 door Polo :) Abosultely love it. 75K on the clock, FSH, immaculate bodywork. Got it off an old chap for £1100.

Well ill start by showing you the pics of it when i bought it:

As you can see, its very clean and the engine is immaculate.

Right 1st things 1st, i ordered my debadged grill and OEM headlamp protectors so the front of the car now looks like this:

Then the back, here i have debadged it, taken the tow bar off and de wipered it, just waiting on the wiper cover now to tidy it up.

Image

Well last night i thought id try debumpstripping it but as some of you know one side went well but this happened on the other

I went to bodyshop today and im gettin it sorted plus the sills tidied up for £100 so its all good. Thats how it stands anyway. But my coilovers should be here tommorow so get them fitted real soon. upto 120mm :)

Alloys coming in the next few weeks, just need to decide. Ill keep you all posted.

cool you took the toebar off hehe first thing id have done too :)

Not a fan of the rear lights tho, but each to their own :) I was considering getting some of these at first tho, but everyone one has very similar style lights to them on their cars near me.

But once you slam it give it some kick ass rims, and i presume ur change the side indicator lights, it will look bad ass :)

Any other plans for it?

Small Update- after i had taken the re wiper off, it left a hole so i smoothed out the rear cover and bought a 22mm grommet from halfords to cover the hole. Will get pics up when its fitted.

Iggy, ye funnily enough, the lights were on it when i bought it so they will be gettin changed to MK5s. And other plans such as German plates, clear side repeaters, small aerial.

Just see how it progresses.........

Welcome to the forum mate.

Looks as if you've got a good base to start. Glad to see your removing the 'Lexarse' style lights, at least they wern't chrome style i suppose!

Have any alloys caught your eye yet, or is it still open for suggestion?!

Sweet little car you have, sorry to hear the bumpstrips didn't go too well if you used my guide thingy :?

Will be great to see the updates and changes over the coming months and seeing those lexus lights replaces with Mk5 rears will look much better! Have you looked into any alloys yet? If not, be sure to post a suggestions thread and we'll dig in the knowledge pot for some great ideas

Just like to start off by saying thanks for the comments guys.

Just a small update really, tonight took the bumpstrip glue off the side which didnt rip off the paint. Was a time consuming task but i think its worth it.

Sorry about the pics guys, had to use phone, will get better ones at weekend. The phone makes it look pink lol

Also, alot of you have been asking about alloys, im open to opinions really so wat do you guys think? Im gettin slight drawn towards putting a set of 14" RH Cups on it :)

I'd go a little different to RH Cups. Renault Turbines, theres a set in the for sale section, he has them on Ebay, Powder coated Black, they would look porn on the red Dub.
