Rattles, nocks and other bodywork noises HELP

Okay now im not sure about everyone else but in my car all i want to hear is my tunes and the engine, not those rare but inescapable rattles that we all suffer from,

i am currently be driven totally mental by a small rattle just behind my ear in the drivers side door panel somewhere! its the sound of metal tapping against glass very irritating im just wondering if anyone has ventured into the door panel area before and can think of anything that could be causing this?
