There is no loud tapping or knocking to indicate big ends at fault
The oil light remains on even when oil pressure switch is disconnected?
and it buzzer makes its noise
No blue smoke
Not consuming any oil
No excessive pressure pushing dip sticks out
WHAT COULD IT BE ?????
Where is the oil pressure sender ?
does the oil pressure switch determine the pressure as it was taken off and the oil light was still coming on when the car was initially started
Oil light flashing on mk5 1.4 petrol between 1500-2000 rpm

From what i just read i think its what im experiencing with mine.
I THINK you will need to maybe clean the throttle body. Take the airbox off and get someone to rev your engine in pulses but to high rpm so the throttle body is fully open while you sprayin throttle body cleaner in. Available from Halfrauds

??? i dont think the throttlebody has anything to do with the oil pressure or the Light3LL1077 wrote:From what i just read i think its what im experiencing with mine.

The Car is not cutting out3LL1077 wrote:I have the oil light flasshing and the beeping sound after my engine cutting out......the reason its cutting out is because the throttle bodies need cleaning. My oil levels are fine.
Either that or you have a leak in your oil sump.
Have you had it looked over by a mechanic ?
the car has just been serviced so the oil levels are fine
the throttle body has been cleaned there are no idle problems
yea several mechaniucs have looked at the car

i appreciate your time3LL1077 wrote:Well if your a mechanic you should know what the problem is
Sorry for wasting my time trying to help
but i dont think we have the same problems
mechanics are not the fountain of knowledge
we just know where to look
and it may be a common problem that people on this forum have had .
There are usually two oil pressure switches...
And they are often wired in different ways, so one is a normally-open circuit, and the other is a normally-closed circuit.
The two switches are at two different pressures, and are used a different revs...
So for example the low pressure one is the minimum pressure that should be at idle, and then the higher pressure switch is what it should make at above 2500rpm.
The light should come on when you first turn the ignition on, as a sort of test to show its working, and then should go out as soon as you start the engine.
The simplest thing is going to be simply replace both oil pressure switches, as should cost about £4-5 each
If that still doesnt sort it, then it looks like you have some other kind of problem, and would suggest you get some sort of oil pressure gauge, you can usually get one that you can screw in place of one of those pressure switches as just has a standard M10 thread, and then you will atleast be able to see exactly whats going on.
And as far as unpluging it, it depends on what one you tried, as there are two.... if the low pressure one is unplugged I dont think the light will come on when you first turn the ignition on.
What stuff did the mechanic use? can you see a makers name on the filter and what oil did he use?

The switches dont control the pressure, they are just there to make the light come one.does the oil pressure switch determine the pressure as it was taken off and the oil light was still coming on when the car was initially started

thank you for the very detailed response.Enzo wrote:There are usually two oil pressure switches...

one oil pressure sensor/switch is located on the right hand side at the top of the engine towards the front and i have disconnected this one and the oil light is not going off so maybe its the high pressure switch.
do you know where the low pressure switch is ???
