ABS Light Keeps Coming On
ABS Light Keeps Coming On
Somethings wrong with my ABS light it keeps coming on for about 2 minutes and then turns off when i am driving. Noticed that the problem started after i painted my calipers. But i checked and there is no paint on the disc brakes or the pistons on the calipers so i dont get what can be causing the problem. Any1 had a similar problem or know how to solve it?

Its usually just cos they are covered in brake dust...
and because they are magnetic it just all sticks on there as lots of the stuff in brake pads is metallic.
They arent that expensive if you need to replace them, fronts are about £15, and rears are about £30
Ideally you want to take it out, clean it properly and then stick it back it, but I have never managed to get one out without having to butcher it.
You could just try and blast all the muck off it using a spray can of brake cleaner, and you should be able to get to it pretty well if you take the discs off first.
If you are only having trouble when you have people in the back then I would suggest flipping the back seat forward and checking the wiring and those connectors, as that is where the rear ABS sensor wires come into the car and plug into the rest of the loom.
