Yeh i really wasn't a fan of the black rear badge either!

What did you police say about your plates?

I had some pretty good ones before my german ones, also dealers ones though :?

Update:

MOT passed last week so car is good for another year

New brakes are still crap, will be getting braided hoses in the future all round

Next big thing money wise is exhaust - gonna be looking at a sport cat powerflow system with a hidden tailpipe, connected to a Raceland Manifold = hopefully a few more horses - hopefully around summertime

Won't make it to Polo Show due to going on holiday so I don't have to worry about my bodywork too much this year - it will only get worse in a year so hopefully get it all sorted next year when I'm working full time (i.e. front bumper repainted, smoothed rear bumper/side strips/creases under lights, and get shot of the boot handle - possible Mk5 Golf handle!)

Other little things on the cards are replacing the bushes all round and a Fabia rear ARB

Long term I'm looking at some replacement wheels - make my RX's winters and have something nice for the summer, though that won't be for a while

Some crap pictures I took today:

Put on a silver badge again as I was bored of the black. The VW numberplates are now back on due to the Police not liking my german ones ;) . I'll probably replace the plates soon for plain ones and move the plate back onto the bumper. I've got a red grille stripe coming next week.

Oh, and my car turns 7 tomorrow!

Sounds and looking good mate! liking the sound of the exhaust, you have some very similar plans to me 8)

I'd keep the front plate where it is though, and put some pressed plates back on! but with the GB band

Get some pressed plates Mouse, they are much more unnoticeable.

E-mail designaplate@aol.com and say you were part of ClubPolo group buy not so long ago, and you should be able to get them for about 17.50 delivered. 8)

I'll probably risk it. The copper said my VW plates are illegal too because they have no postcode (fair enough but pretty anal) and the VW logos in the background (what a heap of crap lol)

I have pressed plates with the gb badge. i was stopped twice by traffic cops in the week i had a dipped beam headlight bulb out (before i recieved and fitted the new hid). both of them had a look at my plates to put my reg in their computer (as well as brethalise me). Thought i was going to be fined for them on both occasions, but only one of them said anything about the plates and that was that the back one was pretty dirty so could i clean it :D

16" BBS RX

Post by wulee »

Hi, 1st introduced myself, Andrew - a 6N2 GTi owner in Hong Kong. Really loved and enjoyed this forum, esp various DIY guides and the WIP threads...

Really love the 16" BBS RX which Mouse had on his GTI, 17" is better but worry about rubbing and hard to source appropriate tires in HongKong. Hope I can found a set of 16" somewhere in Hong Kong.

May I just ask is it a 7J & ET 35?

Thanks.

I decided to loose my rear wiper as I ain't using it much in summer, plus the washer jet has totally packed in. Downside is I have total wrecked my rear washer pipe - I had superglued it on to stop the leak so pretty much broke it when detatched it from the wiper motor, ahh well! So here is what it looked like before:

And now:

So do I keep the GTI badge, replace it with the more modern all silver badge, or loose it all together?

I hadn't cleaned my interior since September last year  Decided to give it a good clean and treat the dash/leather. A few crap pictures:

Whilst doing my 5000 mile oil change decided to remove the lower strut brace. This is because I got stuck down a dirt track and it bent it majorly so it was hitting off the exhaust pipe. Due to the lack of room between the bolt and the sump, we couldn't get the second bolt out with the wrench so had to cut it off - pikey stylee! Will get them to get rid off the remaining piece when I get my tracking redone:

This is what the strut brace looked like after almost 2 years of abuse:

I have not noticed any difference in corners so it obviously wasn't essential (I got it fitted the same time as my coilovers so never would of knew essential it was before ;))

Next on the to do list is still the damaged passenger side sill. It will need to be taken somewhere good. My next proper mod hopefully will be the rear ARB (we need just a few more for the Mk5 group buy so get your name down!). I'm toying with the idea of a double DIN headunit with Sat Nav now. I may treat myself at christmas to my next summer wheels - 16" BBS RG-F imported from America

Oh and today I celebrate 2 years of GTI ownership!

Would no GTI badge be better than an anniversary one? My parents went mental at me saying I wanted to take it off lol

Edit: Just ordered my Raceland Manifold, though I probably won't be getting a system made up until end of September. Ordered some Powerflex bushes for the front too

A few bits and pieces I have now collected to be fitted in the coming months:

New grille as the clips were knackered on the old one and red trim:

Powerflex Bushes which will get fitted when the car gets its tracking/camber done:

And after being lost in the post, I finally got my Raceland manifold delivered:

I will probably order some exhaust wrap for it too. Oh and tax is done for another year, though a £5 increase  How will I survive?
