Well I bought the RHD ones and the brake & clutch fitted perfect but the accelarator was a bit too short (didn't fit totaly overy the metal frame) so all I did was used an adhesive to hold it in place. If you think LHD fits better I may have to order one of those and change it over.

Does anybody else know of this? If so please let us know.

Just been on VagParts where I bought them from. Your right. LHD is 105mm x 47mm x 28mm and RHD is 98mm x 40mm x 25mm.

So its LHD needed. Now i'm gonna order one of those and swap them over for a better fit. I'll let you know how it goes.

oh right I see! Yeah I was looking to get them from VagParts myself along with a few other bits n pieces. I'd be interested to know how you get on with the LHD accelerator.

This may be a dumb question, but what is actually required to whip the new pedals on?

Nothing mate. They all just slide on and off and the rubber wraps around the metal frames. The hardest part was getting the clutch on on as the new rubber was tight around the metal pedal, and all four sides wrapped around. Did them in about 10 mins then a bit longer for acc. as stuck it on (and wondered why it didnt fit!)

Thanks to you i'll hopefully get a pedal that fits correctly

Should have checked sizes I suppose

Yeh your suppose to order the LHD one, I have it.

It's a loose fit so does need adhesive, but fits better than the RHD one.

When I ordered mine from vagparts they automatically sent me the LHD one, that's how I found out about it.

I fitted TT pedals at the weekend.

I had to soak the brake and the clutch in boiling water to losen the rubber a bit (as someone suggested on here), because I couldn't get them on otherwise. Also had to use a small flat screw driver to prise the rubber round the pedal. Bought a LHD gas pedal and used alerite to stick it on.

I received the LHD pedal and fitted it this morning. I wasn't expecting the size to be so different compared with the RHD, but it is a much better fit as it covers the whole pedal where as the RHD left a bit above. It is a loose fit so did glue it with Araldite. I prefer it too as it's size goes better with the other two pedals.

Here's how the RHD pedal looked

And here's how the LHD looked

Then here's the two pedals side by side. LHD is definitely a better size and better fit. But depends if you like smaller or larger pedals.

How much do new doorhandles cost as mine are like yours probably were and all peeling etc. Don't have the part no's do you?

Like the sunglasses holder too.

Also were the Sony speakers a direct replacement?

I wasn't going to touch them but the rear passenger side one is making some noises so I think its screwed.

I'm keeping it OEM and fitting the double DIN RCD200 headunit from a 56 plate Polo (plays MP3's). More wiring hassle than I thought though but spent about £25 on adaptors so it should fit now.

What was your stubby aerial from?

Cheers

Door handles cost £11.99 + VAT + P&P. Does make hell of a difference. Made my car look almost new inside. Sorry no part numbers as they are printed on the inside of the handles.

Sunglasses holder is from a Beetle. Cost £17 + VAT + P&P

Yes the speakers were a dirrect replacement. Most 17CM speakers should go straight in. I could have hidden them behind the old speaker covers if I wanted. All you have to do is take the door cards off. Which you have to do if you replace your grab handles. So if you want them hidden or a OEM look do both jobs together to save some time.

I got my stubby aeriel from a shop situated in America. Its not from any specific model its just a replacement. Metal too. I'll try and find the details for you.

I know. You look at the dimensions and they don't even seem too different. The pedal looks huge now. Haven't driven it yet to compare the two.
