Raz 1.4 TDI Progress thread

Post by vw55raz »

Welcome to my progress thread.

This is what my car looked like when i bought it.

Image

first thing i did was change the grill to a gti grill

Image

After the grill I got the red GTI piping done. Done this by taking the grill off and sticking the piping on by using a hot glue gun

I then got the honeycomb GTI bumper grills to match the top grill

Image

The next thing i bought was the gti splitter. I bought this from a guy breaking his gti for 30 quid. Although it was VERY scratched up as he had a 60mm drop and the splitter probably got scraped badly on the floor.

So i got some sanding paper from halfords, got sanding for sooo long and this is what i ended up with

Got the primer cans out and started the primering. This was a first time ever attempt and i was so pleased with the output :)

after the primering did 2 coats of indigo blue and then lacquer

Fitted the GTI splitter

I then purchased some BBS rx" GTi Alloys which were in a bad state. 2 of the rims had bad kerb marks. So the refurbishing started. Called over a few guys to help out

This is what they looked like when i bought them

You can see the massive kerb at the bottom left of this rim

After a whole lot of sanding and filing and polishing this is how the rims turned out

For the centres, i have given them to a company yesterday called BJV engineering, he is going to get them blasted and powder coated, should have them on saturday!

Wheels look awesome mate, alot of effort has gone into them should look awesome. I'm not overly fussed on the red piping though, just doesn't go right with the car colour IMO Saying that may just be the pics, and may work well in the flesh.

thinking of doing a 35mm drop at front and 30 at the back, but its really hard to find the 30 springs.

Might just do 40 drop all around as a plan B

I did photoshop the red line before i bought it. It didnt look all that, but when you see it in person its not that bad. only thing is, its permanently fixed to the grill now lol

Yeah thats the thing with pictures, sounds stupid but they dont always give a true representation of what something looks like in the flesh. The red piping looks good on the new gtis in that colour so im assuming it prob looks good in the flesh.

Personally I'd go more, if your going for looks that is.

HIDs sound like a plan mate. don't buy cheap eBay kits though, get these:
