I had a fli active sub a couple of years ago. As a remember you have a power supply with inline fuse from battery. Then an earth to earth point. Then I had a thin power lead that went to the head unit to the sub which cuts power to it when the head unit is off to save it draining your battery. Then there was a pair of phono like leads from headunit to sub.
Hope this is some help.

there will be 4 cables
Red power cable - This goes from the positive side of your battery to the + on your amplifier. i ran this cable under my carpets and through a hole into the engine bay
Black earth cable - i earthed mine to a nut that holds the seat in place, any bare metal place should do. then just wire the other end up to the ground on the amplifier
thin blue cable - this is the remote cable, theis goes from the remote port on the amp to the back of the headunit. most after market headuints have just one blue cable spare hanginf freely out the back, just connect them up
finally there is a pre-out cable - this is usually a red and white connection at each end which just push into the back of the headunit and again into the back of the amp.
hope this helps, if needs be, pm me and ill get some photos of mine to try and help a bit more
