Power Hesitation in mid range (amongst other things)
Hi all
Power hesitation in the mid range, it feels like 1 or 2 cylinders are not firing correctly. Any ideas?

Whip the plugs out....make sure they are all the right colour....
Then replace the plugs....replace the HT leads, and possibly the coil pack....that should solve it
Having said that...
At around 4K RPM the variable valve timing opens up....so you will get a bit of a bump then more power......Is that what it is?

OK
VW diagnostic completed (No faults found)
then
Spark plugs replaced
HT leads replaced
Coilpack replaced
Air filter cleaned
Inlet Manifold cleaned
I still have this problem. At stand still when i build up the revs, the engine (especially in the low midrange) begins to shudder/vibrate, and the exhaust pops (not loud thou) randomly.
On the road the car feels like its only running only 100bhp.
Please help

Yeh definitely sounds like the TB needs a clean.
buy some 'carb cleaner' from halfords.
Take off your airbox/filter exposing the throttle body, give it a wipe down, the get someone to start the engine and pulse the accelerator up to 5-6k revs and down again, over and over. You'll notice the butterfly opens. Spray approx half the can of carb cleaner constantly into the TB.
When finished leave the car running, and take it for a good run. Let the VVT kick in (tip from Mr. P).
Here's a dirty and a clean Throttle Body
