If you want to stick with the 6N2 and have the spare cash then go for it......Just consider what else you could get for your money...


Strut braces wont do a great deal! The entire shell flexes quite a bit under normal driving....A full welded in cage might help...

You also have to consider the inherant flex in the suspension system...


Dont get me wrong, people have done exactly what you are proposing and have had driveable cars.....Quite how driveable I dont know lol...

I get the impression most do it for bragging/crusing rights....not for a full on track car...

most people seem to invest in LSD if they are pushing over 300bhp in their ibiza cupras:

Ibiza cupra mk3 - 1100kg's
6n2 Polo gti - 1084kg's (with a 1.6 lump)

Same chassis

So im assuming there will be very little weight difference between the two. The only things to keep in mind is the fact you will be running small width tyres (195 rather than 205), also the front track is slightly smaller on the polo.

So in my opinion anything over the k04 stage & you should invest in LSD, otherwise you should be alright to be honest.. The traction control that comes with the 1.8T is very intrusive so with it switched on you can be fairly confident it will stop anything silly happening (for day to day drving). It does come with an on/off switch..not sure whether you will keep the TCS system or not though :S

I have to say though even in my cupra pushing 250 brake it is difficult to stop it spinning up at times & is plain scary in the wet

As for the 280mm brakes, people running similar power in their cupras dont have issues so you should be ok, if you decide to go down the brembo route you will need to be running at least 16's with enough gap...this to me seems like an issue for the gti as 15's sit nice

As for how much 300+ is gonna cost, you are looking at getting very little change of 3k, whether it be the IHI or GT28RS kit.

I hate to say it though but the conversion route is totally impratical, you could pick up a cupra for half the price of a conversion...the only true downside in my opinion is the lack shiny xenons...If you have alot of spare cash & desperately want to keep the 6n2 then do it, its definately a tempting route to go down, watching peoples faces literally drop from smug grins in their beemers/scoobies is totally priceless(i'd say evo's but they tend to be more of a handfull to fly past) and i'm guessing it would be even funnier in a polo!

Why dont u just sell the polo and with the money add that money to the 7grand u have and im guessing ul have around 12g, thats a good amount of power money if u catch my drift, yeah having an awsome gti would be good but i mean i no some1 who had a pug gti 106 with a 306 gti engine running 300bhp turbo! he replaced everything and i mean everything, he always had problems with it like all the time! i would defo buy a fast car with the money u have from selling up and that in my opinion!
