bargain bumpers for modding......

Post by kipper »

been looking for bumpers to smooth out recently and saw some on ebay. so i got them.....

first one: front bumper, more purply then blue got a small crack just under where the driver side head light is, no biggie, nothing a bit of glass fibre and body filler cant sort. also has some slight damage on driver side, hopefully i can sort that out easily..........

cant winge when i got it for £10 and i went to pick it up. about horu and a half there and back.

its got scratches but its not really n e thing major as its gonna be sanded anyway. the second pics is the damage on the driver side so if u can see it clearly u can see its kina bent but hey, i got plenty of time to sort it out.

second bumper. the rear one, its not that bad, no damage that i can see just scratches....... not bad and it only cost me £19.95 buy it now of ebay.

so now i got the donar bumpers i can start sorting them out.....

has anyone ever seen a mk5 bumper witht he number plate recess moved lower down if it can be done as i dont know if the support bar thing behind the bumper will get in the way.

also at the bottom of the bumper where it curves in then down has n e one made this so it just curves r ound and follows the original bumper curve?

i think the front looks well nice. reminds me of the mk4 16v bumper smoothed. looks like i'll be doing the front bumper then. might see about making the middle grill a bit bigger.

as for the back could u do it witht he number plate recess up a bit. also a bigger challenge if u can, can u make it look like the bottom of the bumper continues to curve round underneath instead of going straight under then back down........... if that makes sense?

I'm not a fan of the rear bumper with the lower plate.

Although I did consider smoothing the recess right out, and puttting the plater back in the OEM position is you get me. The lack of choice for number plate lights put me off though.
