I wouldnt slate the 6n2 on polo forum, you will just p*** people off, although i tend to agree in this case, not so much badly built...just VERY unreliable...every car does have its faults but most arent as expensive AND go pop so frequently

main reason why i let my gti go (plus it was too slow)

the 6n2 gti totally doesnt live up to VW's reputation of reliability..not by a long shot...it feels & looks well built...but such a fundamental flaw makes it terrible for running costs...

before you grill me i still love the car to bits & wouldnt think twice of owning one with a 20vt in it! 8)

,

all i did to my 107 was colour code it and put wheels on it with an exhaust, i bet most ppl on here have change wheels and have an exhaust on there gti???

lol!
I hope everyone has an exhaust on their GTi, if they didnt it would be way louder than, say a bike exhaust for example
Haha that made me laugh.

Im not slatting it and i suppose i could off worded it like very unreliable insted of built crap, i do like my gti!

But it is very unreliable, i love my gti and i really wana keep her til im 21 becoz im in love with my mums cooper s works! Gona grab it off her if i can lol!

Just hope nothing goes wrong after my gearbox is looked at, im not having ago at any1 or anything but it seems ppl on here all jump down my throat for having a 107 lol! not my fault hehe!

But seriously i swear i have the worst gti ever made, everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong lol!

I doubt il have another vw after this one, has put a downer on the whole vw reliablity factor that should come with a vw!

DONT HATE ME LOL!

anyone gets a slating for putting up a car that they dont like, dont take it personally, people are really friendly & helpful when you need them to be...just dont post anymore pics of your 107

Now the box has gone & hopefully u will get it properly refurbed with a warranty you should be reasonably problem free for a while..but i know what you mean, if you really want a cheap runner then maybe (dare i say it) a nice 106 gti would be more suited? they can look so damn good as well

And i totally agree about VW's, the gti opened my eyes a little..you pay a massive premium to own a VW partly so you know its reliable..when i got my SEAT it concerned me that i would have endless problems..but had none..so why pay that premium? I do think that the 6n2 gti was just a one off though & thats probably why it had such a short production run, something common like a golf gti mk4 i imagine will just go & go forever...

A new polo gti is a safe bet, the engine & box is tried & tested for the past like 10 years or so. Although a cooper S wouldnt exactly be a bad shout...last night i had one with two girls in it trying to race me...annoyingly i was in my girlfriends 106 quiksilver otherwise i would have waved goodbye :o the charger whine was pretty cool when they floored it

Yeah im goin down the route of searching now m8, 3 of my have them and one of my mates is running 150bhp and he scares the hell outa me when he takes me for a little ride! They are super quick and it pisses all over well anything! just i like to be different and didnt get one and fort hey i know, vw gti, that'l be reliable lol!

Oh well we'l see wot happens after the box! Hopefully nothing major but as wiv the gti its gona be lol, it is a propa helpfull sight as most forums are but my opinions and likes are very well only mine! no1 else likes em lol!

But insurance on a pug gti thats quicker and only a year older is half the price, weird!

yeah you can get them pretty damn nippy, sooo good on the corners as well! I did the same with the gti though, i wanted something a bit unique that you dont see every day...the cupra was a good choice to move to in the end..i've seen one in about 10 months!

insurance is well weird when i was looking for a car i found on confused when you added the 'chilli pack' to a cooper S it became as cheap to insure as a 6n2 gti? got any idea what thats about?

Insurance on a 106 GTI is cheaper than a Polo GTI? Aren't 106 GTIs/Saxo VTS a much higher insurance group than the Polo? I know thats what put me off upgrading my VTR to a VTS.

106 GTIs and VTSs are group 14. Polo GTI is group 12 - i think its something to do with the engine spec though.

the engine is practically the same, i reckon its more to do with the cost of the vehicle (in terms of little chavs being able to pick one up cheap & wrap it round a lamppost) & most likely its performance specs. On paper 106 gtis are like 1.1 of a second faster to 60 than the 6n2, and thats alot if you think about it
