Yes, but you need an 'activated' copy of vag com to run the module adaptation.
Sorry what does this mean?

I'm looking to get a VAG COM cable. Been searching on eBay and trying to find the right one. Some of them claim to come with the VAG COM software, this is what I want yeah?

Also what does it mean by "Supports VAG-COM 409.1 tools"?

Ta.

EDIT: Is this software compatible with Vista? and is a registered version difficult to get hold of? *Wink* *Wink*

I am using Vista and it was a right pain in the arse to get the cable to work with the laptop.

The program needs to be run in XP programme compatibility mode to work properly (XP compatibility comes part of Vista anyway).

Here is what i had to do to get it to work on Vista:

You have to download the driver from http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm (The V code driver)

Insert the lead into the USB port, go to my computer/properties/device manager, find the usb lead in the list, change the com port settings to 1, 2, 3 or 4 (vag com only looks for ports 1 to 4 and the USB ports on the PC are generally com port 6 upwards hence changing it.)

Then you have to run the XP compatibility program by going to Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.

Then you need to select the com port in vagcom (Which was changed earlier on in the process to either 1,2,3 or 4)

The cable will then connect to the software and is ready to use.

Hope this helps

You also need to change the Baud rate in advanced settings to 9600 in the device manager bit aswell - this will ensure constant communication.

You shouldnt need XP compatibilty at all - I run mine with Vista and it works flawlessly with no backwards compatibility support.

I havent made any changes to the baud rate on mine and seems to be working ok, havent had any problems at all and everything seems to be working as it should.

I ran the program on Vista before trying the backwards compatibility and i was having problems getting it pick up the lead, as soon as i used the xp compatibility program it worked fine :?

Certain aspects of vag com will require it to be set to that. Instrument cluster can play up as can other parts if thats not set correctly.

You know now for future reference ;)
