Gear gaitor clip

Post by Tim_GTi »

What does everyone use for these? I had to take my gaitor and gearknob off today, and when putting them back on, I found the clip which you have to pry apart does not re-crimp properly. As a result my gearknob is secure to the stick, but swivels round and is really annoying.

I tried using a hose clip instead, but couldn't seem to get that tight enough.

Can these clips be purchased? Or does anyone else know of a decent replacement?

luckily when I replaced mine I used the same clip. Would a jubilee clip not work?

Bit of a bodge job but what about a 15mm or 22mm brass olive from a compression fitting for copper pipes. There round but bend easily and you could crimp it into place. Should secure it.

Jubilee should work tim as its just a case of getting a quality made one.

Try wrapping the shaft in some PTFE or similar then clamping it tight :)

Tried a jubliee clip! didn't work. I think I will wrap it with something then try again, I want a new gaitor first though lol, so I'll have to put up with it for a bit longer.
