Polo 1.4 short of breath ?

Post by Joy »

When reaching 5000 rpm's you feel the power is leaving you. I checked the airbox and saw how small the inlet-pipe is. Also it sucks hot air into the engine because the cooling-fan blows hot air into the engine-compartment. Very dumb solution by VW. So now I'm going to remove the plastic engine-cover. Put a pipe from the back of the engine to the front. Install a cone-filter with heatshield directly against the air-inlet.

I hope that will give the engine a bit more air. If that doesn't work it's time for some forced air-supply :-) turbo ! Just kidding.

Allright I'll do that. The 1.4 is very restricted. It could deliver 5-10 hp more when airflow would be ok.
