yes the 1.4 100 will make somewhere between 5 and 10 bhp more but thats not the full picture.

tuning non turbo cars isnt ever about power its about driveability and power delivery.

being honest I used to shy away from tuning non turbo stuff because, on paper, it looks like its not really worth doing.

but I do a fair bit now ... and the gains are noticeable... they do improve driveability... and make the car more fun... and its defo worth doing

oh.. and dont forget... if you are too far from me then dont worry... just pull out the ecu and send to me ;-)

LeMeph - Friday is no problem ;-) The trek from London aint that bad... just a couple of hours on the motorway.

Tim_GTi - approx 10-15 bhp over standard is available with similar increase in torque ;-)

Hello mate,

Any idea what is attainable from the 75 BHP 1.4 TDi engine with a stage 2 map? Currently on a stage 1 custom code map and have a Green Cotton filter...would guesstimate somewhere around 105 BHP at the moment.

Reason I'm asking is sometime in the future, I'd be looking at replacing the standard exhaust from the cat onwards with a straight though pipe without any silencers. Would also add a PD160 intake if I can find it...A slightly wider torque band would be nice. On a disused airfield, it runs out of steam in 5th at ~4k RPM at ~110 - 115 MPH whereas redline starts at 4.5K.

In the long run (if I haven't replaced the car...), would try and source a turbocharger from the 90 BHP 1.4 TDi Audi A2 which make 120 - 125 BHP with a stage 1 map. Again, what do you think is obtainable?

Finally, any idea if the 6 speed box from the Mk6 Polo GT / Fabia VRS etc would fit?

No one's really put much effort into the 1.4 TDi...thought I might change that :D

Cheers,
Ash :)

Harnz - £20 per corner - so £80 to fit springs ;-)

K.I.T.T. - OK - You have to ask yourself a few questions first......

Do you want it mega reliable ?
Do you mind a bit of smoke ?
Do you want your clutch to last ?

You see we can make stage 2 software to suit your answers....

We can make brutal full on torque release, dump extra diesel in for cooling, turn of the EGR, etc, etc - it will make more power and it will FEEL even better.

Nice work..

Always wanted a remap, just not sure if it will do anything to the 80PS 1.4...

daa709 - Anything can be made better than standard ;-)

Take a look under your bonnet and see the ecu sat on the bulk head on the RHS...

With any luck there wont be an anti taper case preventing you from removing the ecu and sending it to me.

£150 it must be worth a try ? Never get complaints only happy customers :-)

Josh_polo - Thanks but I'm no legend - I just love my job and enjoy spreading happiness....

I still remember when I got my first car chipped - some of the best money I ever spent :-)
