Headlight bulbs

Post by chris4500uk »

I've just swapped the headlight bulbs on my 9n without taking anything off (bumper)

What a carry on !

My hands just! fit down the back, poped both out but then couldn't get them back in, had to rotate them round and round as the end as the bottom would not clip into the metal holder thing.

Done the sidelights as well, that was just as bad, trying to press 2 clips with the ends of your 2 fingers that cannot move, jiggleing around in a circle helped alot.

Who the hell designed these things !?!?!

i use a long pair of tweezers for the sidelights! the others are pretty simple on the 1.2

Yep it`s a nightmare, done mine a few weeks ago without taking the bumper off, had to take the bolt off the fuel filter to get any kind of room to put my hands in to change the bulbs and i`ve not got the smallest hands  , got there in the end though well 1 and a 1/2 hr later

lol I think the passat is just as bad last time I tried

packaging design nowadays has some pretty difficult jobs to cope with, although you'd think that would be a priority.

need a dwarf-person to offer their services.

Their is a large circle clip on the back of the headlight unit, turn it to the right (I think) and the bulb should be free. Will try and get a pic for you

EDIT: I should read the post fully b4 I reply lol, I normally use the g/f`s little make up mirror so I can see what I am doing, but for some reason she gets quite upset lol

Try using a mirror to see what your looking at.... There are two clips you need 2 press at the same time.... also give the wires a little wiggle 8) just so it gets them loose!
