Big Thanks!!

Post by Tom W »

To a few of the forum members especially 'SORTED' i have had a fun packed night in a cold garage making my car bleep 8) Thanks to the others that gave me suggestions on how to get my VAGCOM up and running.

Whilst i'm on i may as well stick it in the same post, my airbag light has been on for a while and when i ran it through this was the outcome i got:

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 6Q0 909 601
Component and/or Version: 15 AIRBAG VW5 0006
Software Coding: 12597
Work Shop Code: WSC 00788
1 Fault Found:
00588 - Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N95)
32-00 - Resistance too High

Does this basically mean the airbag wont work in the event of a collision or does it just need re setting? my guess is that its frigged!

Cheers Tom

Be very very careful with scanning the airbag controller. I recommend you upgrade your vag-com version to 409.1, as this has coding to avoid blowing the air bag controller up!

As for the error, thats a possibility that the airbag wouldnt deploy. It could be a grounding issue, but airbags are something you should leave to dealers and people who know exactly what they are doing - very dangerous to go wrong, and very expensive to replace!

Pull out the ash tray and you'll see a purple plug. Most people have got the cables from eBay. Need to get one myself.

Ahh. Always wondered what that port was for LOL. I've seen the cables on ebay for a few quid but the seen the software range from free to over £300 on various sites.
